Is this what freedom feels like?
Today, every kid from the ages 11-17 and I had something in common. We all cried due to the alleged “death” of Fortnite.
As previously stated in one of my older posts, I am the resident gamer here at Henlo Lizard. This news about Fortnite hit me harder than expected. What is my new meaning in life now that I can’t just send out a “Anyone wanna play some fort?” text to the group chat every night and get absolutely no response? What is my purpose?
This game also surprisingly has a lot of sentimental value to me, despite me constantly ridiculing it by calling it a children’s game. This game was the only game other than 2k that I didn’t have to lie about when a girl texted me (an extremely rare occasion) asking what I was doing. There are only so many times you can say you’re playing 2k before she starts getting suspicious and there is absolutely no way I’m telling a girl that I’m playing League of Legends.
This game also cemented my place in the friend group that I hang out with when I put the Henlo Lizard group chat on Do Not Disturb. I’ll miss the times where I would leave the Henlo Lizard squad only to go join my other, much more skilled, friends that didn’t share a single brain cell to split with the whole squad.
I’ll never forget my first impressions of when I played Fortnite when it was still in the shadow of PUBG. I remember after my first Fortnite game all I could say was, “Does anyone want to play literally any other game than this one? Literally any other game please.”
For the potential children that might’ve found this post that, for some reason, looked to the Henlo Lizard blog on guidance or answers about what is happening to Fortnite, don’t worry, it’s not actually going to shut down. The Epic Games executives would have to be hanging out at the same houses as Lamar Odom and Demi Lovato if they even consider that as a good idea.
With 1.4 million viewers for Fortnite on Twitch earlier today, it proves that this game is still a huge phenomenon. Hopefully, Fortnite will be back up and running by tonight for the sake of its fans, myself included. I really, really don’t want to have to play Apex again.
